Purina Is Killing Your Dogs

It's an accusation perhaps that sounds harsh but in reality that is just what they are doing.
Since summer of 2010 the company has changed their formula on each of their food products.
I for as long as I can remember have used Purina Pro formula. After they changed and put in the chunky soft pieces my older dog had a hard time eating it. She only has a few teeth left at 12 years old. Instead of torchering her for ever I made the choice to switch to Purina's One formula. With in 2 weeks I noticed my Shepherds hair really falling out. Ok I know it was fall but it was never this bad. I mean when ever she layed down there would be clumps the size of her. About 1 week later we noticed hot spots all over her and a rash that extended from her chest to the bottom of her back legs. Her hair was trying to get off of her as if it couldn't live there any more.
I immediately gave her some benedryl to calm her itching. At first I thought oh no she has fleas, I searched but found nothing. So I ran over to the feed store in our area and bought the best food I could get. Almost 50.00 a bag but it was not going to make her sicker.
I then got onto Purina's site. I went to their forum and found many others complaining about how their dogs have been sick. One even died! Ok so I am mad and made my own comment. Comments are all directed to their PR personnel who I am sure gives you a line of shit to shut you up.
I didn't get a response for my concerns or any kind of contact at all. Even though I left my name, # and Address.
How angry am I that upon looking at the ingredients in this stuff they call food and finding no meat at all. It is advertised as being pure meat but there is nothing in it. I could just about get myself a lawyer and sew them for the pain and agony my poor dog endeared for over a month. The vacuum bags I went through and the washing of the bed clothes. Terrible I tell you.
With no response from them here is my solution. I will never buy another product made by them again. I will spread the word about the poison they are giving dogs. I will tell anyone who is using to stop. Even if your dog is not having signs of distress this food is not good at all. I looked up who governs these dog foods on the market today. Well you will be shocked to find that no one does. The standards are set by the food companies themselves. Meaning that the 10 large food manufacturers are governing their own standards.
With the increase in price of grain and corns. It is my educated guess that these companies have started importing grains, meats and other ingredients not regulated by the US FDA
Unless we complain it will never change. I find it is animal abuse to feed your dog these foods. It is animal abuse to make a food that is potentially harmful to animals. Who will fix this? only us by not buying their crap.
Let them eat it!

Eagles Mere Toboggan Slide 2011

Yes the ice has been measured and it won't be long now. 7 inches have been measured Sunday and it looks like the weather will be co-operating to have it build early in January. I will keep everyone posted when it will be open and what weekend they build it.
It's fun to see the volunteer fire company come together to build the slide. It seems to be their favorite part of the whole thing.
You won't see me there but you can stop by my shop while the slide is running and check out my bath a body product, get a hair cut or even if I can find a spot see my jewelry.
Just simply walk up Laporte ave you'll see my shop on the corner. It's on your way to the rest rooms so you can take a peek before you go stand in line for your fun ride down the hill.
The lake is like glass right now and if we don't get snow you are going to have a long walk back to the top as you may make it clear over to the beach side of the lake.
Stay tuned I will keep you posted.

The Only Foot Prints Left Behind

The night before last I walked my dogs around 11 pm. When I first walked outside I realized that the wind had finally stopped blowing. It has been whipping for over a week and with temps at 9 degrees this has been a very cold week. Hard to believe it's still fall.

As we walked down the street the dusting of snow that had fallen was very sparkly. Well if you know me you know I don't like snow or cold at all. I have to admit and this is something I never say it was beautiful.
It shimmered with every step and looking down each street it was as if someone had sprinkled sparkles everywhere. It reminded me of when my sister and I were very young. We used to roller skate in our basement. The floor was covered with a very ugly brown carpet and we thought we needed to improve it.
My mother has always been crafty, we used to make ornaments out of ceramics. So we always had paint and glitter around. My sister and I found this glitter called angle. It was really shimmery and we thought it would work perfect for this ugly rug. It would be like skating on a shimmery dance floor. Little did we know that it wouldn't shimmer like it did in the jar. It sparkled a bit but we put so much on trying to get just the right sparkle. Our plan was to skate on it for a bit then vacuum it up before mom got home.
We skated and forgot about the vacuuming. We also were not impressed with the dull sparkles so we lost interest.
Of course we got into trouble but looking back it was funny. What were we thinking?
As my Dogs(girls) finished there business I started walking back to the house. It was so quiet and if it wasn't so cold I could have just looked at the shimmering snow for ever. I climbed the steps and looked back one last time at the shimmering floor and noticed we were the only foot prints left behind surrounded by glitter. Is there something you see that reminds you of days gone by? Share it with us we would love to hear what makes you remember something that happen long ago.
